Basics ;)

Hi everyone!
Its been a while since I started my blog and I realised that whilst I know what lolita is I don't know if anyone reading this knows what lolita is, so i'm bringing it upon myself to give a brief (But not too brief) explanation of this amazing and magical fashion!

Lolita fashion to start off with has absolutley nothing to do with the book! This is often where many people think that the fashion is pervy and a fetish, this isn't what lolita fashion is and is very offensive. Now with that out of the way the explanation of the fashion :)

Lolita fashion

Lolita fashion is very diverse and cannot easily be explained in one sentence but in my opinion it is a fashion defined by cuteness and innocencce aswell as elegance and grace. The many styles of lolita fashion have been influenced by many eras of fashion, the main infuences are from Victorian and Rococco eras but as the fashion has gone on its been influenced by other eras to result in the many styles of the fashion that we see today:

The main 3 styles in loli (loli is shortened from lolita) are:
Sweet, Classical and Gothic

The typical silhouette of a lolita outfit is the bell shaped skirt but it isn't mandatory for lolita fashion:
The above is a basic lolita outfit used for simple coords or begginers
you can change the mary janes for a different type of shoe (for example; a rocking horse shoe),swap the socks for tights, put a petticoat under the jumperskirt for more poof ;), you can swap the jumperskirt for a onepiece or skirt and change the headbow for a bonnet and add a bag if you wish, you can create so many outfits and different looks :)

Lolita Brands
As with all types of fashion there are the main brands which supply different styles of lolita, but dont only supply one main style sometimes they vary the style per collections. The main brands are:
Angelic pretty- OTT Sweet lolita
Baby the stars shine bright-Old school sweet lolita
Alice and the pirates-Pirate lolita
Moi Mete Meme- Gothic lolita
Mary Magdalene-Classic lolita
Innocent world-Sweet/Classic lolita
Metamorphose-Mixed lolita
Bodyline-Mixed lolita

These aren't the only brands which sell lolita clothes, there are many new small, indie businesses that are appearing due to brand being expensive and hard to obtain aswell as the joy of creating individual items of clothing :)

Since my explanation was very brief there are some amazing and accurate blogs and websites by lovely and experienced people which i'll link here for your enjoyment :):

These are my favorite blogs that explain lolita fashion! Have fun learning about this fashion if it is new to you or you want to learn more :)

Bye!
